Artist's Statement: My father's hangout; filled with everything a house or appliance might need: cans and boxes filled with nuts, bolts, belts, motors and gears; tools too, many modified for a special job. An archeologist could section this and find a 150 year separation between the new and the old. The shop is gone and much of his collection now reside in other shops like his. This is a one point perspective but many shapes and edges do not conform befitting an organized but chaotic shop.

Artist's Statement: Jane Coventry (b1963, Canada) is a third age emerging artist living in Guelph, Ontario. Jane’s watercolour paintings, mostly representational and expressionistic in style, reflect her relationship with the natural environment surrounding her home in southern Ontario. This painting depicts an elderly father and his son working together to clean out the stables in a century old bank barn. It evokes memories of both the men and a lifestyle that can still be found in rural Ontario.

Artist's Statement: Yuliya Alagir is a self-taught artist whose work explores the deep connections between ancient symbolism, sacred philosophy, and the elemental power of the Sun. Her renowned artistic direction, Mystery of the Sun, spans over two decades, delving into themes of time, lost civilizations, and the relationship between humanity and nature. A member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, the Canadian Society of Watercolor Artists, and the Creative Association at the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, Alagir has gained international recognition for her unique artistic vision and experimental approach. In 2024, her works were acquired by Museum of Contemporary Art of Uzbekistan (CAMUZ), Lazgi Museum (Lazgi dance recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage) and by the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan (National Art Collection/ Archives). Now based in Calgary, Yuliya draws inspiration from the vast landscapes of Canada. Through her art, she seeks to bridge the past and present, inviting viewers into a timeless dialogue with the natural and mystical forces that shape our world.

Artist's Statement: I visited Brier Island, a rocky outcrop jutting into the Bay of Fundy. I sketched these rocks on location, and brought the sketch home to use as reference in making this studio painting. I very much liked the shift in colour between the dry rocks in the foreground and the wet rocks closer to the water.

Artist's Statement: I bought some architect's flat files that were in an old farmhouse in Ontario, and it required two trips in our SUV to transport home but it was worth it because now I have a place to store my watercolours. On one of the trips to get them, we also had a tour of Mac’s barn. Part of the barn was recently used to store Mac’s vast collection of found objects, and the other part was where the original owners kept livestock. I think this is where the donkey was kept, back in the day.

Artist's Statement: 'Last Dance' was created for the Royal Collection Trust Call. It is a piece I composed from several images from our trips to observe salmon runs on the Adams River, the Puntledge, as well as fishing trips from Bamfield, Sooke and others in tbe Pacific Ocean.

Artist's Statement: The strong tire tracks give directional lines leading to the lovely old homestead gave me a good reason to stop for a few shots. I tried to portray the image I have with hard edges of track marks, the softness of the snow, and the calmness of the misty background, so this painting can manifest in light and dark and movements.

Artist's Statement: Gill Cameron is a Canadian Landscape Artist. She is a member of the Society of Canadian Artists, Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and Ontario Society of Artists, where she has won numerous awards. She is intrigued by shapes, design and how they relate to each other in their natural habitat. Her paintings end up as landscapes but they begin their process as shapes that are pleasing in a dynamic composition. Gill’s bold paintings build on the positive energy of nature. The possibilities and complexities of colour, design, and the power of elemental imagery infuse her work. Gill describes her sense of wonder of the beauty of landscape through her lush paintings.

Artist's Statement: One sunny day while driving to the West Coast we stopped at the Rogers Pass Summit and went for a walk. The sun filtered through the forest trees and I was very intrigued by the patterns on the forest floor. A change of colour was necessary to convey the feeling of that day. The trees changed to blue and the leaves to a warm orange and red. The sun, the fresh air and the magic of the forest on that special day will ever be remembered through my watercolour painting "The Forest Floor".

Artist's Statement: I happened upon these blossoms when my husband and I were walking by the seaside in Scotland. It was a grey, damp day but the blossoms seemed to enjoy that. I was inspired by the way they were able to brave the stiff ocean breeze, tangle of thorny brambles and thick grass blowing in the wind. All of this was banked up against an old stone wall. I later found that they are called Bindweed. They were bound alright and thriving because of it.

Artist's Statement: En Plein Air: Late Fall Breaking Light, Blueberry Island North - Redstone Lake Late Fall, Breaking Light, painted Plein Air on Redstone Lake in Haliburton County is about capturing the fantastic, ever changing, rolling fall light that nicely contrasts with the forested lands, shallow waters and beach. It’s a popular island on Redstone. Haliburton artist David Douglas (educator, writer, designer, photographer, maker, re-maker and outdoors enthusiast) has been a transparent watercolourist for over 60 years. Currently his works vacillate between traditional watercolour, multi media watercolour and found art assemblage. Over the last twenty years, his landscape watercolours have focused extensively on researching deeper personal themes, that result in a narrowing of deliberate subject matter choices - to clarify a telling story with beauty as visual currency for thoughtful, respectful reflection. Artist's Statement: To start I drew out a grid of 3 inch squares. I then drew out my garden over top. Each square was painted various pale shades of yellows, pinks, oranges and shades of greens. Within each square I painted the section of the garden various values of that colour from light to dark. I really like playing with contrasts of lights and darks, cool and warm squares to show some squares receding or popping forward. It then starts to look like a quilt pattern. I wanted to create a pattern within the patterns of flowers and draw your eye in a direction through the painting. My goal was to create a painting that is more than just a garden of dahlias. I want the viewer to enjoy weaving through this painting discovering realism and abstraction at the same time.
